05.28.12 (LAS CRUCES) -- A group of educators are capturing old memories of a historic building, while finding the true character of the neighborhood it sits on. "I love cositas, I love artifacts," said Irene Oliver-Lewis who is on a mission to collect items she says tell the story of her community. "Artifacts, they say something of us as a culture and say something of us as a people," she said. Oliver-Lewis is the artistic producer and founder of Court Youth Center and Alama D'Arte. She is keeping memories alive with the 402 West Court Living History Project. "The coach that brought us this said you know I've kept this forever, the kids made this for us because we were a winning season," she said. The project aims at documenting the 129 year old property from when it was an actual court house to a junior high and to what it is today. "In order to really understand the area, you have to understand the people and their history and the culture and being in Las Cruces and finding out...
Nyamira County Meet-The-People Tour Hon Ruto on Insecurity & MRC
Eldoret North MP William Ruto has said emergence of rebellious groups is a manifestation of failed Government policy on youth empowerment. Speaking in Nyamira County at the start of his two-day tour, Mr Ruto said groups like Mombasa Republican Council (MRC), Mungiki and Sungusungu are symptoms of how past governments have ignored the youth. He criticised leaders using MRC to woo voters and challenged the Government to focus on youth unemployment. "Let us not treat the symptoms, which are manifesting themselves through the emergence of these groups. We should deal with real issues," said Ruto. He asked leaders to deal with unemployment, poverty and hunger. The URP presidential candidate noted the country has 2.5 million hectares of uncultivated land, which can feed citizens through proper crop and animal husbandry. "The youth can only put their energy into farming when they are provided with modern equipment, proper seeds and fertilizer," said Ruto. He added the average age of the...

Saint Lucia Police have said that they will detain students who loiter, but the plan has run into criticism from Principals and the National Youth Council. While welcoming a crackdown, both the National Principals Association and the NYC believe the Police plan should be revamped after consultation with the relevant stakeholders.

Hello America, My fellow Americans, today, the youth unemployment rate is at 25 percent. Many young Americans, graduating from high school or college, are returning to live at home, because they can't get a job. Employers report that they are having a hard time filling open jobs because young adults don't have the skills they need. They report that many recent hires require significant training, just to get them ready to work. Show up on time. Learn from mistakes. Be more productive. Skills that any worker needs to know -- but today's young adults still don't know. What is the government's response to all this? What emergency action is the government taking to immerse our kids in the world of work... and get them ready to participate in our economy? Create incentives for employers to set up apprenticeship programs? No. Force schools to focus on labor market skills? No. Strengthen after-school programs so students can work closely with entrepreneurs? Again.... No.We are seeing instead...

Hating. Bullying children. Let the hating begin. The majority of speakers, who Nat Bates and Corky Booze supporters, show how hateful they can be, even towards children. After the youth spoke so courageously, the adults were cowards and spewed hate towards the children of Richmond. The following show Bates and Booze supporters turning something positive into negative. With the exception of Cordell H. who spoke about not judging people. Those adults who spewed hate were: Ken Davis, Mark Walhberg ("...honoring Gay pride....is a slap in the face for AA." The kids were all Black), Wesley Ellis and Margarite Jones. The mayor, Jovanka Beckles and Jeff Ritterman, MD were not bored as Mr. Ellis stated, they were disgusted that those adults were so ignorant and hateful and couldn't say something positive to our children.
