Stocks were little changed on Friday as investors held off on making large bets ahead of a three-day weekend as uncertainty continued to swirl over Europe. Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day, and was observed by placing either flowers or flags on the graves of veterans of the Civil War. After World War I, it became a day to honor the dead from all of our wars. There are many stories about its origin with over two dozen cities and towns claiming to be the birthplace of the holiday, including Waterloo, NY. New York was the first state to legally recognize the day as a holiday, by vote of the New York State Legislature in 1873. Congress changed the date of Memorial Day in 1971. The goal was to give us a three-day weekend. That worked, but in the process many Americans have forgotten the purpose of the day.

In continuing his testimony, Corona said his family went into investing in foreign currency. "I already explained why dollars, because it is stable... and we were not wrong in hedging in dollars," Corona explained. He reiterated that he had started investing in US dollars even before the foreign currency law was passed by Congress.
