LAAX/SUI (March 1, 2012) -- Another bluebird day, spring temperatures and an epic Slopestyle course laid the groundwork for one of the Burton European Open's most memorable slopestyle competitions earlier today. Jamie Anderson (USA) successfully defended her title and won the BEO Slopestyle for the second year in a row, while Aleksander Ostreng (NOR) won his first international title today. Both winners took home $15000 and a world-class title to add to their snowboarding resumes. Jamie's winning run included a backside tailslide on the rail, a frontside 360 to backside 180 on the step-up/step-down combo, a Cab 720 nose grab and switch backside 540 Indy grab on the kickers, finishing off with a backside lipslide to frontside 360 melon. Enni Rukajärvi (FIN) managed to get close to Jamie with a top score of 81.80, ending up in second place followed by a new face on the BEO podium, Swiss rider Isabel Derungs, who took third. All eyes are on Zurich for Europe's biggest freestyle sports competition! The freestyle.ch 2011 unites the elite riders in the Freestyle disciplines of Snowboarding, Freeskiing, FMX, and Skateboarding. In Snowboard Marko Grilc (SLO), Halldor Helgason (ICE), Christian Haller (SUI), Seppe Smits (BEL), Ståle Sandbech (NOR), Sebastien Toutant (CAN), Torgeir Bergrem (NOR) and Roope Tonteri (FIN) progressed through to the Semifinals.

Here's a little video of our 31 kilo light and 11-year old, 135cm board riding ripper Marcus Kleveland from Norway.. Marcus came down to Switzerland to participate in his first ever Junior Jam at the 2011 Burton Euro Open... He won the qualifiers and then got 7th in the finals as the youngest competitor. In between contest days, we made it to Davos to watch the Evolution finals, and managed to sneak in some runs in the park... When you weigh only 31 kilos, lack of speed tends to be a problem.. But with team mates like Torgeir Bergrem and Danger Dave, and a little slingshot assistance, everything becomes possible. That was the day Marcus got a new nickname, "The Cleveland show", for all you Family Guy fans out there. Then there's also some footage from an off-day, when it was foggy and raining in Laax.. Chas Guldemond was the guy to beat in Snowbasin after dishing out back-to-back 12s and just looking perfect with his riding. But Eric Willett paid no attention and came back with the highest scoring slope run in Winter Dew Tour history, and later said, "I realized I do good under pressure." Willett scored a 97.25 after a 5050 to backside lipslide on the first rail, to boardslide switch up frontside boardslide on the A-frame, then frontside boardslide 450 out on the cannon. He blasted both the jumps with a switch backside 12 double cork to frontside 10 double cork.
