Prospective students remaining positive amid gloomy future By Diana Crofts-Pelayo Despite the growing economic uncertainty for teachers around the county, prospective teachers are remaining positive for the future. Tim Pool @timcast, Luke Rudkowski @lukewearechange, Geoff Shively @jiraffa, and Dustin and Jess were in Chicago in May, 2012, to live stream the NATO protests via Ustream @Ustream. On May 19, the place they were staying was apparently raided by police. After working hard all day streaming protest, they were ambushed at gunpoint by police in 12 vehicles, handcuffed, questioned, and then released. They were live streaming from 3 cameras, so many thousands of people watched this police abuse as it happened. Freedom of the Press is on very shaky grounds. May the Live Streamers revive it. There was a protest at my school and I felt obligated to record. I'm pretty oblivious to what they were protesting about. Something about a teacher getting fired and bullying the kids. The school staff blocked the front gate with a friggin school bus (which is a fire hazard and that's why the fire marshal showed up). They had cops on the scene. The protesters were a bunch of middle school and high school students. They marched all the way to the elementary school campus to preach or something. The school leader or something went to each class in the morning with 2 cops (who were toatally unfit to be cops, one of them had a pot belly) and told the students that if they were to protest there were going to be extreme consequences. In the end, no one got suspended or expelled

On May 22nd there was a peaceful protest in Manhattan in solidarity with our brothers and sister in Quebec. The purpose of the protest was to spread the awareness of the bullshit 75% tuition increase in Canada, the poor quality education that is given in exchange, and the police state law that just got passed stating that it is now illegal for the general public to congregate. In other words, they are making it illegal for a genuine community to come together.
