Each of the items represent an element of nature to inform us of the resources as our disposal and as an aspect of humanity to guide us in implementing those resources for the greatest good, to make the magic of which we are capable. The Magician is the first numbered card of the Major Arcana, or Fool's Journey, because he represents the primary goal of the journey itself. The Magician stands as the ultimate hero because he seemingly creates something from nothing with ease and grace, the life that we all want for ourselves. The Magicians in our lives are everyone who makes us go, "Whoa! How did you do that?" What makes us fools is that we don't quite understand that we have it within us to do the same.
