Independent pharmacies closing across the RGV

Since March 1, local independent pharmacies have closed due to the new managed care system in Texas. Instead of direct business with Texas Medicaid and Medicare, there are "middle men" handling the reimbursements for doctor visits, medication and other medical services. Low-income families are being affected by these changes, however independent pharmacies are also being affected business-wise. Students aspiring to be pharmacists now may need a new perspective with their passion. This video is gives a quick overlook of the changes that have been happening.
