L'idée lui en est venu alors qu'il s'occupait de gérer des systèmes de messageries automatiques pour des flottes de coursier sur ce qui était alors le prototype du blackberry. Il avait mis au point un système qui permettait à un coursier d'envoyer un message et de faire en sorte que celui-ci soit dupliqué pour être reçu par tous les les autres -- par exemple en cas de problème de livraison. Par la suite, son logiciel a connu le succès que l'on sait, c'est à dire près de 4 millions d'utilisateurs rien que sur la France -- et sans doute...
