Lake 22 is a rewarding hike with lots of waterfalls along the way, followed by some nice views, with the lake itself and Mt. Pilchuck as the big payoff. Make sure to wear hiking boots or good sneakers with plenty of tread for grip and bring plenty of water. It's 2 to 2 and half hours of continuous "up" to get to the lake across well maintained forest trails, tiny stream crossings, loose rock "scramble" (not so much scrable but lots of loose rock), and snow trails. The Lake 22 trailhead is a little over 12 miles east of Granite Falls, WA in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Note that pretty much all cell phone reception stops about 10 miles from the trailhead so you'll be off the grid for this hike. For more info: www.wta.org

As you can hear by the sound of the bush scraping along side the Jeep - the snowmobile trails can be sort of narrow trails. But the Jeep's will fix that, going up and down them a few times. 1987 subaru hard snow trail 2008

looking through past vids..I recently blew the original engine on purpose. the dual range was in use here. 2008 was a record 9 feet for the locale in the vid. the snow is 18 inches packed, the sube stayed on top. the other ruts you see are from a truck. Tread lightly..the sube does no problem. this was over four years ago. The original engine was 21 years. I was still learning the car. It popped at cameras with its little radioactive games..but I did get 34000 more miles out of it. this was an original misaligned, solid lifter EA82. Emission pipes of insanity. hitachi carb with a second barrel oem left partially open (it was too big for the carb given) Never got a strong heater out of it. the block was missing a route or two, oil side and coolant. humbling experience. the real life history in longevity is astounding...and it was never correct.
