The 33-year jail term to a Pakistani doctor who helped CIA in finding Osama bin Laden has created outrage in the US with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton calling it "unjust and unwarranted" and a Senate panel voting to cut aid to Islamabad. "We are raising it and we will continue to do so because we think that his treatment is unjust and unwarranted," Clinton told reporters during a joint press conference with the visiting New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully. Dr Shakil Afridi. "We are in the midst of a series of discussions with the Pakistani Government on a range of issues that are important to the US and the international community. We certainly consider the treatment of Dr Afridi to be among those important issues," she said. Clinton said the US does not believe there was any basis for holding Afridi guilty. Download here : www.loadquality.com John McCain used the final presidential debate this week to distance himself from President Bush and challenge his rival's policies and character. With less than three weeks before the election, McCain questioned Senator Obama on spending, taxes and his relationship with 1960's radical Bill Ayers. Obama kept his calm demeanor throughout the debate and promoted himself as the candidate who can bring fundamental change to the country. Polls show that debate watchers thought Obama narrowly beat McCain, 49 to 46 percent. National polls show that Obama is solidifying his margin over his counterpart and leading in key battleground states. The Illinois Senator is reportedly ahead of McCain by 4 points in the race for president. Political analysts say the economy and McCain's recent sharp attacks on Obama have played a large part in this shift. But they also say that the Illinois Senator hasn't closed the deal yet. Another poll shows that 45 percent of...

After years of strong legal restrictions, a pair of 2010 Supreme Court decisions removed many barriers to fundraising and spending on elections by outside political groups. And this has notably impacted the 2012 presidential political race. Nearly half of US states have thrown their weight behind a legal defence of local laws restricting corporate money in politics by asking the supreme court to revisit its widely-criticised ban on similar national legislation. The states filed a brief with the supreme court on Monday in support of a century-old law in Montana -- the Corrupt Practices Act -- against companies pumping money into elections. The law was struck down by a Montana court following the US supreme court ruling two years ago in the Citizens United case, which lifted most restrictions on corporations spending money on political advertising. However, the Montana supreme court has since upheld the state law, putting it in conflict with the Citizens United ruling. If the supreme...

He was the Republican presidential nominee in the 2008 United States election. McCain followed his father and grandfather, both four-star admirals, into the United States Navy, graduating from the US Naval Academy in 1958. He became a naval aviator, flying ground-attack aircraft from aircraft carriers. During the Vietnam War, he was almost killed in the 1967 USS Forrestal fire. In October 1967, while on a bombing mission over Hanoi, he was shot down, seriously injured, and captured by the North Vietnamese. He was a prisoner of war until 1973. McCain experienced episodes of torture, and refused an out-of-sequence early repatriation offer. His war wounds left him with lifelong physical limitations. - Subscribe for Breaking News.
