Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Morsi and former air force chief Ahmed Shafiq are poised to face off in the second round. This sets the stage for a showdown between two very different candidates. Religious versus secular.

Tags: WHIPS/CHAINS Secular Front Deathwish
Video by Max Moore maxmoorefilms.com Whips/Chains "Master/Slave" 12"EP is available now on Deathwish. Deathwish are proud to welcome Louisville's Whips/Chains to our affiliated family. Featuring Ryan Patterson (Coliseum), Ben Sears (Black God), and Will Allard (Xerxes), Whips/Chains play a brand of heavy, apocalyptic music for the trying times we live in. Unpolished and pure, this massive sounding down-tuned three piece takes influence from bands His Hero Is Gone, Bolt Thrower, and others. "Master/Slave" is Whips/Chains monstrous debut 12"EP. Taking no time to set a tone, opener "Secular Front" crawls through a wreckage of noise before breaking into a D-Beat stride. Other songs "Brick and Mortar", "Trembling and Alone", and "Human Filth" carry this same bombastic quality, but also introduce subtle hooks into the fray. These dynamics make Whips/Chains not only powerful, but also uniquely listenable. Creating a mesmerizing push and pull throughout the grime and fury. More info @...

He doesn't give his real name or town, because of the danger from death threats due to him being an apostate. He states he was at one time a fundamentalist, and had "a beard and shit". He talks about how he first began to question his beliefs, and how the answers he received didn't make any sense. Although he has to keep his Atheism a secret, he decided to speak to his Mother about his beliefs or rather lack of belief. To his complete surprise his Mother also had doubts about the dogma of Islam, and now they are both secret Atheists. He talks about the struggles he faces everyday from the Islamic community, and how he found who really cared about him and who didn't. Facebook: www.facebook.com Twitter: twitter.com My name is Ben Vete. I'm 19. The first song is Red Roses, the second one I picked was Emma Watson. This song featured a full band, upbeat, energetic, and it seemed like it was a lot of fun to play. I started singing when I was 5, picked up the guitar at around 13, and started playing bass seriously for about 3 years now. I also played tuba in high school, and I'm looking to start playing again, although I do not have a tuba of my own. Everything has been self taught, but I do have a pretty good knowledge of some music theory. I can play by ear, and I am a fast learner. I wouldn't say I have mastered the bass, but I feel I can hold my own on the bass. I grew up singing and playing in the church, learning most of my stage presence in church. I have been in many choirs, including my high school's elite choir. I started playing more secular shows in high school, playing at talent shows and any event at school where I was allowed to play...

Produced by the Atheist Community of Austin. The Atheist Experience # 762 Clip. Hosted by Russell Glasser & Jen Peeples. May 20, 2012 This Theist caller wants to know why the hosts choose not to believe in God. Jen tells him choice has nothing to do with it. Atheists don't choose not to believe in God. They just don't believe. (there is a difference ya know) Anyway, the caller says there is a ton of evidence there is a God. Both Jen and Russell both ask in unison, Really? The caller states the evidence is up to interpretation, but how can we look at the Universe or DNA and not come to the conclusion God created it. What else could it be? Well that sure is one giant Argument from Ignorance you've got there, but the caller disagrees. Jen tells him he can't just make up God's attributes as he goes to fulfill what ever he needs to continue his delusion. Both Jen and Russell try time after time to point out the fallacy in the caller's logic, but his ignorance extends way beyond his...

Although he did not introduce new forms, he enriched the prevailing German style with a robust contrapuntal technique, an unrivalled control of harmonic and motivic organisation, and the adaptation of rhythms, forms and textures from abroad, particularly from Italy and France.

Another early songwriting effort revisited. Thirty-six years ago I was finishing my second year of college and wrote this as a somewhat satirical homage to what is now called contemporary Christian music [or CCM]. I had noticed while playing in coffeehouses that the same phenomenon which plagued secular musicians also plagued those in gospel music--kids who were ga-ga over the musicians but didn't pay a bit of attention to the music--known as groupies. Note: The "odd guitar" reference in verse two is to a guitar a friend of mine played at the time which had a rather unique body shape. It was called a "Craviola" [made by a Brazilian guitar-maker called Gianini] and was shaped like an odd cross between a lute and a classical guitar with a Venetian cutaway. Google the word "Craviola" for pics and you'll see what I mean.
