This summer, bring the family (and the dog, too) to the beach at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park. Lake Metroparks opens the beach at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park Memorial Day Weekend and June 2 through Labor Day. The park is open sunrise to sunset. Concessions available and lifeguards on duty, 9:30 am to 8 pm (weather dependent). Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park is 21-acre lakefront park featuring a beach with a gradual slope and sandy bottom. There is a breakwall that keeps the waters at the beach relatively calm. Recreational opportunities on the waterfront include kayaking, canoeing, sailing, boating, paddleboarding, camps, and special beach programs. There is also a designated dog-swim area located on the far east portion of the beach. Amenities Accessible restrooms, changing rooms and shower facilities; picnic area and pavilion with grills, drinking fountain, playground, volleyball courts, and a Surf Chair (all-terrain wheelchair for use by visitors with physical disabilities)....

The announcement of the new European Sailing Cup for next year has led to positive reactions from international sailors in Medemblik. On Friday EUROSAF, in association with organisers of Garda Olympic Week, Delta Lloyd Regatta Medemblik, Sail for Gold in Weymouth, Kieler Woche in Germany and Semaine Olympique Francaise in La Rochelle, signed a joint statement of intent to create a new series commencing in 2013, the EUROSAF European Sailing Cup. These series will be top class for Olympic sailors and will ensure an extra element of competition with at least two Paralympic Classes. Jules Ferrer, sailer in the Laser class, thinks it's a good development. The fourth day of the 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta offered a good day for sailing and surfing. On this day we had drama and excitement in the RS:X class, an Olympic ticket in the Laser class, a new leader in the FINN class and some exiting battles in the SONAR and Laser Radial class. Melonseed Skiffs SALLY LYN (white pennant) and THREE CHEERS (black pennant) sailed Lake Maxinkuckee May 23, 2012. SE breeze at 5-10. We sailed to Culver Military Academy on the north shore and saw the RH LEDBETTER at her mooring, masts stepped but yards not crossed. Then we worked to windward as the breeze built to 10 SE, rounding the south end of the lake, and heading back to the ramp. A splendid day made complete by the joy of sailing with another Melonseed.

Together with Arjen Rahusen, Chair of the Organizing Committee, we look forward to the spectacular closing ceremony tomorrow at the last day of sailing at the Delta Lloyd Regatta. Delta Lloyd Sounds will be a fantastic stage to say farewell to the Dutch Olympic team and send them off to London 2012. Including the official awards ceremony and performances by VanVelzen and Ilse DeLange, Delta Lloyd Sounds will be a memorable closing of the 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta.
