A visit to one of the premier events in the country - the Glenmoor Gathering of Significant Automobiles. Featured cars: the 1937 Cord that actor Tom Mix was driving when he was killed, a 1954 Kaiser Roadster by Darrin, a 1930 Stutz MB Convertible Coupe, and two concept cars -- a one-of-a-kind 1954 Plymouth Explorer, and a jet-fuel-powered 1963 Chrysler Turbine.

If you're looking for some vintage metal that's stylish, powerful and has a lot of history, who says you have to buy a cramped, high maintenance muscle car? This awesome Galaxie 500 will look just as cool rolling down the road, turn just as many heads at the local drive in and, thanks to a thorough shakedown by our RK Motors Charlotte service department, is ready to provide you with miles of carefree cruising! Assembled at Ford's Chicago, Illinois manufacturing facility in May of 1970, this pristine Ford Galaxie 500 survivor was originally shipped to Paul Heuring Motors in Hobart, Indiana and sold to Ray Eggers of nearby Valparaiso, Indiana. Since that sunny summer day 42 years ago, it has led a pampered three owner life that, judging by its mostly original Green Metallic paint, was free of exposure to inclement weather, significant wet road driving and long-term outside storage. Today, the car is in overall outstanding condition displaying a glossy finish that is characterized by...

In May of 1971, a customer placed an order for a HEMI-equipped 1971 Dodge Charger R/T at Glavic Dodge in Wickliffe, Ohio. It was late in the production cycle and the customer was told that his order would probably not be filled. Two weeks later, he was contacted by Chrysler who agreed to build the car. On June 18th, the Bright White Charger left the Lynch Road assembly plant. By 1974, the Dodge had traded hands for the first time. It was decommissioned as a daily driver and tucked away in a rented garage where it was eventually discovered by a 14 year old boy on his bike. The son of a racer, he recognized the R/T stripes and knew the car was somewhat rare. After some detective work, he found the owner and made his initial contact. Though the Charger was not for sale at that point, the conversation proved to be a valuable one. After staying in touch for well over a decade, the opportunity to own the Charger finally arose in the early 1990s. The boy, now in his mid-twenties, bought...

Richard Childress Racing Street Performance partnered with General Motors to create RC1 Camaros to pay homage to legendary racer, Dale Earnhardt. The latest rendition of the RC1 series came just one model year after the Camaro beat all odds and made a successful comeback following its deletion in 2002. This 2011 Camaro SS/RC1 is based on the 2011 Camaro SS, but features much more than any normal SS on the market. It not only features a stylish design, but it also packs a mean bite under the hood. This particular 2011 Camaro SS/RC1 was not offered to the public, but instead Richard Childress Racing (RCR) built several of the RC1 Camaros and shipped them straight to RK Motors Charlotte. The RC1 is the first of the series and the least powerful of the three. Of course, being the least powerful of the RC-series is not saying much, as the top-end RC3 pumps out a concrete pummeling 750 horsepower. The best thing is that this special edition Chevy Camaro is in a price range that a working...

Painstakingly restored to showroom fresh condition, this 1968 GTO convertible is a pure bred muscle car that wraps a numbers matching drivetrain and a ton open air style in correct Verdoro exterior paint that proves exactly why green is the color of envy! Assembled in Fremont California and originally delivered to Hockett Auto Sales in Grass Valley, California this broad shouldered GTO has traveled to virtually every corner of the country with previous owners living anywhere from Arizona and Illinois to Florida and Ohio. When the current owner took possession of the car, he financed a multi-year frame off restoration which amounted to just over $40K, bringing his total investment dangerously close to the six figure range. In typical Pontiac fashion, this GTO's correct GM code Q paint is one of its most striking virtues; and while the gold metal flake in original coats of Verdoro Green was almost ALWAYS dull, this car's fresh two-stage urethane sparkles like liquid sunshine. Lift...

For the better part of two decades, Precision Preparation, Inc. (PPI) and 2006 Off-Road Hall of Fame inductee Ivan "Ironman" Stewart were a nearly unbeatable force in the highly competitive world of off-road racing. Together, they claimed 88 victories including numerous Baja 500's and even one Baja 1000. That win, along with four Baja 500's were accomplished using chassis number 015. Built in 1993 to replace the successful but aging 010 chassis, the 015 would become the Master's thesis and, ultimately, final product of a remarkably successful off-road team. RK Motors Charlotte is proud to offer the unique experience of owning this incredible piece of motorsports history. Fresh out of an extensive restoration performed by many of the same hands that originally built it, there is no finer or more significant example of an off-road racer on the market. At the core of this truck is a Lexus-derived aluminum 302 cubic inch V8. Like the Lexus engine, the race version retains a...

If you're in the market for a spectacular summer cruiser with tons of character and an unbeatable price, this incredible 442 is the car for you! This super clean 1966 Oldsmobile Cutlass Holiday coupe was originally sold to Mr. Willis Foltz by Central Carolina Motors in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Recently, the car underwent a professional body-off restoration which added all the correct trim and details to transform it into one of the finest 442 tributes we've ever offered! The 455 cubic inch Oldsmobile Rocket V8 that's bolted between this car's freshly painted fenders is certainly not the measly short-deck 400 that '66 442s originally came with. In fact, it's a fully detailed torque monster which sounds meaner than most of the cars in our RK Motors showroom and wears a deceitful coat of Bronze paint that looks fantastic against the car's satin black engine bay. Turn the key and a chrome Holley carburetor sends air from a stylish aluminum air cleaner and fuel from braided hoses...

Let's not waste any time on this brilliant Vitamin C Orange 1970 Plymouth. Not only is it a 100% matching numbers V-code Road Runner, and the earliest documented 1970 hardtop built. It also carries a rare aluminum intake manifold that was factory installed as a leftover from A12 production and presents a fresh frame-up restoration which provided all the necessary finishing touches to perfectly complement its immaculate body and spotless undercarriage. That's right Chrysler fans; this is another one of those off-the-charts amazing Mopar muscle cars that your friends here at RK Motors Charlotte love to find and offer exclusively to you! The color change from Burnt Orange to Vitamin C is completely understandable; after all, why have a Road Runner without the high-impact color? The body is 100% original sheetmetal, and has been refinished to better than new standards with great gaps and a ton of block sanding. I don't know that we've seen a car this straight in a long time, and the...

With only 17396 original miles, it mixes one of the biggest and smoothest V8s GM ever produced with a vibrant coat of 100% original paint and a spacious, well-preserved interior. Not devoid of all character like so many fresh frame-off restorations, this Cadillac's finish carries just the right amount of wear under a lovely patina and soft shine that simply cannot be duplicated with today's perfected paint processes. Hitting the color sheet somewhere between teal and true blue, the bright hue looks completely appropriate and has a good amount of shine which literally glows in the sun without displaying that familiar 'behind glass' shell of most modern urethanes. Under that single stage paint, the car certainly appears to wear all original OEM sheetmetal, with no signs of botched repairs or accident damage in the past. And I can't say for certain, but those massive rear quarters with their razor-sharp edges have to be some of the biggest single stampings ever installed on an...

With the ability to handily smoke almost any vintage Eleanor at the stoplight or the race track, this 2007 Sanderson Mustang is the perfect car for any enthusiast who wants to go fast and look good doing it! Sanderson's Customs and Conversions is a small company in Pilot Point, Texas that builds limited edition tribute cars which have the serious performance to back up their killer good looks. For the 2007 model year, Sanderson's released 50 Eleanor tributes, just like the one you see here, through their premier dealer, O'Meara Ford in Thornton, Colorado. And now $115K and one owner later, this trophy winning muscle car joins our RK Motors Charlotte showroom as one of the coolest modern Mustangs we've ever offered. As a turnkey package, this reliably engineered Sanderson Mustang already featured a polished Saleen supercharger which topped Fords stalwart 4.6 liter V8 with 5 psi of boost and cranked out a solid 430 rear wheel horsepower. But, as with its body, the car's owner decided...

Despite what many experts may be telling you, the collector car market isn't down. Sure, garden-variety cars aren't rapidly appreciating, but certain vehicles, like this 1969 Camaro Z/28, are rock-solid places to park some money. Cars like this rarely lose value, and this is the kind of car you can drive, show, and enjoy with the confidence that it'll always be worth about what you paid for and maybe even a little more. There's also the fact that the Z/28 combines a high-revving small block, a 4-speed, and an agile suspension designed to tear up road courses around the country, and you have a car that's a pure joy to drive, investment be damned. It shows just 60454 original miles, making this a solid car that needs nothing today. A quick glance at the cowl tag confirms that this lovely Tuxedo Black Z/28 is definitely the real deal. The bodywork is straight, the gaps are good, and everything fits together like they did when they were new. The two-stage urethane paint gives the black...

As you might imagine, it takes a very special car to amaze us here at RK Motors Charlotte. And as the Hemi headquarters of the world, we've seen some pretty amazing machinery come through our doors, and have broken some price guide records while we were at it. But few cars can compare with this spectacular 100% matching-numbers 1970 Charger R/T Hemi, which is one of only 56 Hemi Chargers built that year, sports a 1-of-1 color combination, a full fender tag full of options, and has received a rating of 1.1 from Galen Govier, meaning it's the absolute best of the best. With full documentation, a known ownership history from new, and a restoration that was conducted to the very highest standards, this is THE Hemi to own if you're serious about your Mopar muscle. This Charger was originally ordered new by 15-year-old Wayne Gagosian, who had spent the previous three years washing dishes to save up for the purchase at Carl Burger Dodge in San Diego. However, unlike most new drivers, this...

At RK Motors, we've sold every single Shelby we've gotten our hands on this year, setting two price guide records in the process. Bottom line, as Carroll Shelby's star has risen, so have the values on the hardware bearing his name. And at the very top of the list has to be the King of the Road GT500KR like this 1968 Fastback. This 1968 Shelby GT500KR enjoyed a high-quality restoration in 2008 and looks spectacular today in its original Acapulco Blue finish. Driven less than 100 miles since it was completed, this car was restored to compete at the very highest levels, and the original mileage of 20912 is correct and authentic, with a complete owner and title history to back it up. The paint is 2-stage urethane that glitters in the sunlight, and the fiberglass pieces are in excellent condition. The original 428 Cobra Jet engine lives in a fully detailed and beautifully restored engine bay that is befitting a car of this caliber. Yes, it is the original engine, fully rebuilt to Cobra...

Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing! On the outside, this amazing 1966 Mustang convertible looks like a clean, black ragtop with a high-quality restoration, but when you start to look a little closer you notice things like the 4-wheel disc brakes, the 17-inch Torque Thrusts, and the slightly raked ride height. Under the skin, it's a take-no-prisoners hammer designed to pound anything with less than 500 horsepower into dust, thanks to a 600 horsepower aluminum stroker motor, a Richmond 5-speed, and a heavily fortified suspension. Best of all, it isn't some Shelby clone with oversized fender flares that will attract all kinds of unwanted attention. No, like all the best sleepers, this one keeps a low profile until it's time to crack the throttle. By then, you'd better be holding on tight, because all hell's gonna break loose. The bodywork is a tribute to this car's overall workmanship, and once you see how good the finish work is, you'll have no doubts about the quality of the...

RK Motors Charlotte is unquestionably the home of the A12; you know, those killer Super Bees and Road Runners with lift-off hoods, 440 Six Pack engines, and four manual gears in the transmission. We've sold more than just about anyone else, and our staff is comprised of experts who know these cars inside and out and can tell from 20 feet away whether they're correct. We've restored the two most valuable A12s in existence, the first one off the assembly line and the famous Project Six Pack racer. We're not alone in our appreciation of these amazing machines, either, and nobody here at RK Motors Charlotte was surprised when the market for these cars took a big jump skyward. Recent auction results show that even non-numbers-matching A12s are red hot, with more than a few changing hands for six-figure price tags. Even Sports Car Market magazine noted that at $120000, a non-numbers-matching car was priced "market correct." Now take a moment to consider what a documented, 4-speed A12 with...
