German television covers May 16, AmaCerto river cruise ship launching by AmaWaterways lin Vilshofen, Germany. It was chrsitened by ship Godmother CLIA President Christine Duffy in a traditional ceremony. Also on hand for the maiden voyage were AmaWaterways President and Co-Owner Rudi Schreiner and Executive VP and Co-Owner Kristin Karst. The day's festivities began with a rendition of the "Triumphal March from Aida" while "stelzengehers" or stilt walkers welcomed the crowd as the AmaCerto sailed into view. Vilshofen Mayor Georg Krenn greeted the enthusiastic crowd of local dignitaries, river cruise executives and passengers, followed by remarks from AmaWaterways President and Co-Owner Rudi Schreiner & Executive Vice President and Co-Owner Kristin Karst, as well as Godmother Christine Duffy. Amidst the chirping birds, hen cuckdoo-cooin, twin ALCO 44 car freight cruises over the Sharavathi river bridge on Konkan, honks and disappears into the Honnavar tunnel. Very difficult to keep breathing still !!! Sharavathi is Konkan railway's longest bridge, 2.065 km. Sharavathi river originates and flows entirely within the state of Karnataka. It is one of the few westward flowing rivers of India and a major part of the river basin lies in the Western Ghats, receives a large amount of rainfall. On its way, the Sharavathi forms the Jog Falls which is the highest waterfall in India, where the river plunges 253 metres into a deep gorge in four different segments called as Raja, Roarer, Rocket and Rani. The river originates at a place called Ambutheertha in Shimoga district. According to a legend of the times of Ramayana, this is the place where the Hindu God Rama broke a bow to win the hand of Sita. The total length of the river is around 128 km and it joins the Arabian Sea at Honnavar.
