For my own piece of mind, I allow Hunter to chew the meat off the bone and take it away once he starts to gnaw on the bone itself. This is how Kasper is tonight...he settles intermittently and sometimes will appear to be asleep and resting properly. The longest period of peacefulness was about 20 minutes. The rest of the time he is either pacing, panting and whining (lasts for about 5 minutes); or sitting / lying and panting. You can tell he is obviously in pain, stressed and acting fearfully as a result. We are ignoring him almost completely (which is why the recording is poor as I'm not looking at him) to try not to make him feel threatened, offering him plenty of calming signals and giving him affection when he comes looking for it :( *edited the following day to say* Just to let everyone know, Kasper has recovered now! It turned out there was a 3 inch piece of "something" (possibly from his raw bone) that caused a blockage inside him. He managed to get that out,and is pretty much recovered now - certainly back to his usual energetic self!! :D This was taken earlier today: www.youtube.com

This is our foster dog, she has been with us just under a month now and enjoys munching raw bones. This video shows how great this breed can be, I can take anything from her without issue and other animals can be around her when she eats - again without issue. She has one of the best temperaments of any of the dogs I have fostered over the years. She was a shelter dog.
