With Ford's venerable Crown Victoria now officially out of production, Nissan is stepping up to fill the big sedan's equally big shoes with its NV200 van. That's right. New York's current fleet of roughly 13200 yellow cabs, which ferry upwards of 600000 people per day, will be phased out over the coming years and replaced with a fleet of NV200s. Nissan won out over Ford's Transit Connect Taxi and an entry from Turkish firm Karsan in a city-run contest held last year. The first fully complete Nissan NV200 Taxi makes its debut later today at a special event being held in SoHo and attended by Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn and several New York City officials. people.ece.cornell.edu For our ECE 4760 final project, we designed and built an array of 12 independently-controllable speakers to implement an acoustic phased-array system. The system samples a standard audio input signal at approximately 44.1 kHz, and then outputs this signal to each of 12 speakers, each with a variable delay. The idea behind a phased-array is that by changing how the speakers are driven the angle of the maximum intensity of the output wave can be shifted. This will be further explored in the high level design of the project. This type of array was built to be able to support various other more advanced design challenges, including longer-range acoustic modem transmission and sonar imaging.

4-17-12 The black leopards in Jungleworld are never active when I'm around. Heck, sometimes they're not even on exhibit! I was lucky enough to capture some nice close-up shots for my future Bronx Zoo tour video, at least. Sorry for the random shot of the plants at 1:28! I had just noticed that the silvered leaf monkey exhibit was just on the other side past the glass, so I zoomed in to see if I could catch a glimpse of anything. Radar Imaging Satellite-1 (RISAT-1) is a state of the art Microwave Remote Sensing Satellite carrying a synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payload operating in C-band (5.35 GHz), which enables imaging of the earth surface features during both day and night under all weather conditions.
