lesandjane.plus101.com Benefits Of Growing Your Own Food. Jane comes from a farming background and grew to love vegetable gardening at an early age. To this day I have never seen another person eat an onion just like that most people eat apples. To say she loves gardening is a bit of an understatement actually. It really is her passion, part of who she really is. It is here that she really comes alive, whether it be getting her hands dirty in the greenhouse at the beginning of the season or helping harvest in the fall she is always smiling. That really is the biggest part of this method, the part that is hard to explain, but easy to show you. The smiles will become part of your gardening experience when you try this method. And one more thing, that we just cannot show you, the incredible taste difference with vegetables grown this way, it is our great pleasure to finally introduce the LesandJane method of gardening. My brother and I have been working on our garden since about January. He has put a lot of work into it, building planter boxes, and irrigation system and trellises for the plants to climb. We have several things growing, including several varieties of tomato and bell pepper, okra, beans, squash, cabbage, broccoli, onions, jalapeño peppers, chives, oregano, cilantro, basil, ... and I am probably forgetting something. I think this may be our best garden ever. Especially with all the work my brother has put into it.

It's been over a month since my last tour and due to the freezing weather things haven't moved on much since then. My peas have all come through as have the lettuce, beetroot and spring onions. I planted out all the brocolli and kale but the gale force winds haven't helped. Over in the polytunnel the strawberries and the giant show onions are doing really well. My french beans, cucumbers and courgettes will be planted out shortly in the tunnel. I'm growing a few giant pumpkins and these will be planted out this week. I'm sick of the cold weather and frosts but theres not much you can do about it growing vegetables on an allotment in Yorkshire.

Dangerous foods that dogs should never eat.
Tags: what your dogs can't eat
Who can resist those big brown eyes and cute doggie grin? Can a little reward from the table really hurt your dog? Well, that depends on what it is and what's in it. A chip with guacamole can cause your dog some real problems. In fact, there's a lot of people food your dog should never eat. And, it's not just because of weight. Some foods are downright dangerous for dogs -- and some of these common foods may surprise you. Avocado-No matter how good you think the guacamole is, you shouldn't give it to your dog. Avocados contain a substance called persin. It's harmless for humans who aren't allergic. But large amounts might be toxic to dogs. If you happen to be growing avocados at home, keep your dog away from the plants. Alcohol-Beer, liquor, wine, foods containing alcohol -- none of it's good for your dog. That's because alcohol has the same effect on a dog's liver and brain that it has on humans. But it takes far less to do its damage. Just a little can cause vomiting, diarrhea,...

Symbolism In Ghana

The Symbolism In Ghana exhibition begins a six-month run at the African Art Museum of the SMA (Society of African Missions) Fathers in Tenafly, NJ. Spanning five cases, the exhibition explores five different aspects of Ghanaian culture: Adinkra, Military/Government/Commerce, Royalty, Birth and Death, and Assorted Symbolism. A sixth case tackles the murky subject of Authentic vs. "Tourist" Art. From the colors used in various rituals to the designs used in everyday life, Ghana is a country teeming with symbolism: the representation of a concept in visual form. Although Adinkra (also called Adinkara) symbols have existed for funeral hundreds of years, their origins remain hazy. In his book Religion and Art in Ashante, RS Rattray suggests these symbols may have been borrowed from the Saharan Moslem world to the north as a byproduct of trade. This theory makes sense in that Islam has a rich tradition of symbolism, pictorial images being taboo. In their book The Arts Of Ghana, Herbert M....

This is the opening theatrical projection that I created for FEED, a new work by Andrew Maillet, Charlotte McCurdy, and Josh Evans that was first produced in April 2012. All of the visuals are found footage with the exception of the onion close-up, which I filmed. There is no computer animation in this cue. The following is excerpted from the script: The lights dim... a small spot of white on the black back wall of the stage begins to dance in small movements. The spot grows, gradually, revealing itself as a convoluting mass of nodes... As the white dots grow larger on the wall they morph into screen images, recognisable websites and unrecognisable abstractions... We continue to zoom in closer and closer to the ever-growing web of images and screens. The images quickly fill the screen, becoming larger and larger; we are falling further and further into them, zooming in on individual groups of pixels. By now, the picture is completely abstract and formal - almost a pixelated,...
