usawatchdog.com - The meeting in Iraq, this week, to negotiate Iran's nuclear program was a failure. The meeting, once again, ended the same way the last one did—with a date for another meeting. The next one is in Russia, next month, and will involve all the same world powers (US UK, France, Germany, Russia, China and Iran). The West wants Iran to stop enriching uranium to high levels for fear of turning it into a nuclear weapon. Iran has repeatedly said its program is for the peaceful production of energy. Israel has called the ongoing meetings a stalling tactic and is not ruling out military action, even though it has agreed to allow international inspectors. Greece is inching closer to a Euro exit. If it leaves the European Union, will Spain and Italy be next? Will the Fed and European Central Bank be forced to print money, again, to stop another calamity? Some say the problem will be "contained," but isn't that what was said about the sub-prime mortgages in 2007? That proved...

Six world powers resumed yet another round of talks with Iran about its nuclear program on Wednesday. The negotiations are taking place in Baghdad. No breakthroughs are expected in these talks. In fact, their only significance seems to be that they demonstrate Iran's ability to buy more time. Iran is trying to force the West to reduce sanctions. In exchange, it is offering to gradually address the concerns about its nuclear ambitions. Tehran has tentatively agreed to allow United Nations inspectors into a military base with suspected links to nuclear arms testing. Israeli Vice Premier Silvan Shalom said that Israel is monitoring the nuclear talks, but he expressed wariness on the outcome: "From now on, we will look at those moves of the Iranians in order to find out if they really stopped the development of a nuclear bomb. As it looks now we don't really rely on that agreement that will be achieved today in Baghdad between the international community and Iran." The Trumpet believes...
UK position if Israel attacked Iran? 23.05.12

Britain has reportedly been considering its role if Israel were to attack Iran and America became involved. The BBC reports that the National Security Council has been examining what role, if any, Britain might play in a conflict. It comes as a new round of talks about the country's nuclear programme gets underway in Baghdad. Iran has long been accused of trying to build a nuclear bomb and refusals to allow international inspectors into key facilities have heightened suspicions. Israel says it won't allow a nuclear armed Iran and has threatened a pre-emptive strike. Diplomats from six world powers are trying to convince Iranian negotiators to allow unfettered inspections and even to give up elements of the nuclear programme. Professor Michael Clarke, Director of the Royal United Services Institute spoke to British Forces News about whether it was credible that the National Security Council was considering Britain's legal position in the event of any conflict.

US House debates Iran nuclear energy resolution.

Some say it's aimed to block diplomacy and tie the president's hands on Iran policy, but the House of Representatives plans to vote on a resolution it says is aimed at reinforcing US policy and denying Iran nuclear weapons capability. The house resolution was introduced by the Foreign Affairs Committee Chairwoman who made the claim that the resolution helps draw attention to the fact that Iran continues to threaten peace in the Middle Eastland is a state sponsor of terrorism ...this all coming just a week before the US and other members of the United Nations Security Council meet for negotiations with Iran, already this week Iran addressed UN inspectors over military links to its nuclear work. The resolution claims that time is running out before Iran will gain access to nuclear weapons, and it supports US policy to prevent that from happening. It also supports ongoing human rights efforts in Iran and opposes any policy that would rely on containment as an option in response to the...

Senior officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Monday urged Iran to grant inspectors access to sites, people and documents as the agency seeks to address concerns that the country might have been working on nuclear weapons. Delegates from Iran and the IAEA met at Iran's permanent representative office in Vienna, where the two-day talks were reported to be less about concrete questions regarding Iran's nuclear facilities, and more about the terms on which the inspectors should be able to work. IAEA chief inspector Herman Nackaerts said that inspectors should be allowed to talk with employees from the suspected sites and collect relevant information. "The aim of our two days is to reach agreement on an approach to resolve all outstanding issues with Iran - in particular clarification of the possible military dimensions remains our priority. It's important now that we can engage on the substance of these issues and that Iran lets us access to people, documents,...

Alleged Activity at Iran's Parchin Facility: IAEA Suspects Nuclear Weapons Research at Complex

Washington-based think tank The Institute for Science and International Security says that commercial satellite imagery shows new activity at Iran's Parchin military complex southeast of Tehran. The United Nations' International Atomic Energy Agency reportedly suspects that nuclear weapons-related research may have taken place at the facility. Iran has dismissed the allegations but has yet to allow UN inspectors to visit the facility. The think tank has suggested that Iran may be trying to cleanse Parchin or remove equipment from the site. The revelations come ahead of a second round of talks between Iran and world powers scheduled for later this month in Baghdad, after last month's negotiations in Turkey. Iranian authorities will also be meeting with the IAEA in the coming days and the UN nuclear watchdog says gaining access to the Parchin military complex will be a one of its top priorities for the discussions.

NYT Admits Ahmadinejad Never Threatend to Wipe Israel Off the Map but . . . April 20, 2012 · 0 Comments Source: NYTX By Michael McGehee: After seven long years of warmongering fanatics in Israel and the US claiming that Iran's President Ahmadinejad threatened to exterminate Israel, the New York Times finally decided to investigate. In Robert Mackey's blog, "Israeli Minister Agrees Ahmadinejad Never Said Israel 'Must Be Wiped Off the Map'," readers are told how Israel's minister of intelligence and atomic energy, Dan Meridor, recently sat down with Al Jazeera's Teymoor Nabili, where the latter said, This idea that Iran wants to wipe Israel out, now that's a common trope that is put about by a lot of people in Israel, a lot of people in the United States, but as we know Ahmadinejad didn't say that he plans to exterminate Israel, nor did he say that Iran's policy is to exterminate Israel. —to which Meridor replied, "You're right." Elsewhere on the fringe of the media it was widely...
Nuclear power plant control room during emergency shutdown

This is the control room simulator in Chattanooga that the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission uses to train its nuclear inspectors. When a warning sounds, the control rods are automatically inserted; the operators are making sure that the shutdown goes as planned. All nuclear power stations in the US are different; in the future, most reactors will be be built from a design that the NRC has licensed. Nuclear remains the only clean electricity source that can be built in units of over 1000 megaweatts; solar and wind are much smaller and lack 24x7 ability.

An Iranian envoy voiced hope on Monday that talks with the UN nuclear watchdog in mid-May would help resolve "outstanding issues". The International Atomic Energy Agency said it would resume discussions with Iran on May 14 and15 - more than two months after the last meeting over concerns about Tehran's atomic activities ended in failure. Western diplomats have said Tehran still appeared to be stonewalling over the body's most pressing demand to let its inspectors visit the site.

The United States urged DPRK on Monday not to conduct a nuclear test or launch a satellite and called on the international community to exert its influence to try to ward off such "provocative actions." US State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said on Monday she was not in a position to confirm whether the DPRK is preparing for another nuclear test, in addition to a long-range rocket launch planned for this month. "Our position remains, don't do it," Nuland said. "And any of these types of action of just going to further isolate them and make it harder for them to be part of the world community and to give their people a better quality of life." She also urged the international community, "most notably China," to use its influence with the DPRK to dissuade it from going ahead with the launch. DPRK maintained that the rocket, to be launched between April 12 and 16, will carry only a weather satellite, but the US and South Korea said the event is a test of a ballistic missile....

thefilmarchive.org January 10, 2007 The Iraq War, or the War in Iraq (also referred to as the Occupation of Iraq, the Second Gulf War, or Operation Iraqi Freedom by the United States military), was a conflict that occurred in Iraq from March 20, 2003 to December 15, 2011, though sectarian violence continues since and caused hundreds of fatalities. Prior to the war, the governments of the United States and the United Kingdom claimed that Iraq's alleged possession of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) posed a threat to their security and that of their coalition/regional allies. In 2002, the United Nations Security Council passed Resolution 1441 which called for Iraq to completely cooperate with UN weapon inspectors to verify that Iraq was not in possession of WMD and cruise missiles. The United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) found no evidence of WMD, but could not verify the accuracy of Iraq's weapon declarations. Lead weapons inspector Hans Blix...
