Mud turtle laying eggs in Silver Lake in Port Dover, Ontario, May 24, 2012. I was lucky enough to catch this turtle at work last evening while walking around the lake. Silver Lake has been mostly drained for the last two years while the various bureaucracies debate over what should be done to repair the outdated dam that forms the lake. In the meantime the once beautiful lake has become a mosquito invested swamp and is rapidly being overtaken by weeds that are choking out what is left of a once vital ecosystem.
