Australian cricketer Luke Pomersbach, who is accused of molesting US national Zohal Hamid, got bail on Saturday even as a determined Zohal opened a new front in her battle for justice, slapping a legal notice on Bangalore IPL team director Siddharth Mallya for defaming her. Siddharth is team owner Vijay Mallya's son. In her notice, Zohal demanded an unconditional apology within 24 hours for his derogatory comments against her on a social networking site. Her lawyer said the notice was faxed to Siddharth on Friday night. "What he said was completely untrue and very hurtful. More than £4m worth of fake one pound coins have been seized by detectives. The haul is thought to be the biggest ever in the UK and follows raids on properties around London. The Metropolitan Police received information from a member of the public that led to raids at addresses in Enfield, Essex and Hertfordshire. The vast majority of the coins were found in a 40ft freight container in Waltham Abbey, Essex. Detective Inspector Bruce South said: "This seizure is a significant blow to the network behind it - individuals clearly intent on undermining the UK monetary system by producing counterfeit currency on an industrial scale. "It is yet another example of the work this team is carrying out on a daily basis to tackle organised criminal networks." Three men have been arrested and are being questioned on suspicion of making counterfeit money, money laundering and fraud. The suspects - aged 52, 43 and 27 - are being held at a north London police station.

Still on the foreign scene, one Scotland yard detective and three former officers have been arrested in connection with claims that serving anti-corruption police were bribed. The suspects are being held in custody while enquiries continue. The metropolitan police said the arrests were made as part of a planned operation set up in October 2011. It comes after members of parliament were told about claims that payments had been made to anti-bribery officers by a 45-year-old detective constable, being questioned on suspicion of providing information about Nigerian fraudster James Ibori in return for cash. Ibori, the former state governor of Delta State, was a corrupt official who was convicted for stealing hundreds of millions of pounds from the country. He was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment last month after pleading guilty to laundering millions of pounds in the UK.
