It's contest day and Danny Davis looks possessed, but he assures everyone it's just his stretching routine. See what goes down behind-the-scenes when making a comeback in snowboarding. Danny turns into a soccer mom at the indoor Laax skatepark, coaching Mark McMorris and critiquing his lines through the bowl in typical Frends fashion. The shredding then heads to the hill, as the guys are getting ready for the Burton European Open. Mark redeems himself in practice on the massive jumps and obstacles of the slope course and Danny Davis stands on his first pipe podium since 2010. The annual US Open Chill basketball game is back. You might not have known it went away, but you can thank Chill, Adam and Kevin Pearce for bringing it back this year. Snowboarders aren't known for being fantastic basketball players, and that seemed to be true for Mark McMorris, Gabe Ferguson, Jack Mitrani, Danny Davis and the rest of the guys playing in the annual Chill fundraiser game. LAAX/SUI (March 1, 2012) -- Another bluebird day, spring temperatures and an epic Slopestyle course laid the groundwork for one of the Burton European Open's most memorable slopestyle competitions earlier today. Jamie Anderson (USA) successfully defended her title and won the BEO Slopestyle for the second year in a row, while Aleksander Ostreng (NOR) won his first international title today. Both winners took home $15000 and a world-class title to add to their snowboarding resumes. Jamie's winning run included a backside tailslide on the rail, a frontside 360 to backside 180 on the step-up/step-down combo, a Cab 720 nose grab and switch backside 540 Indy grab on the kickers, finishing off with a backside lipslide to frontside 360 melon. Enni Rukajärvi (FIN) managed to get close to Jamie with a top score of 81.80, ending up in second place followed by a new face on the BEO podium, Swiss rider Isabel Derungs, who took third. As the season draws to a close The TTR tour travelled to Livigno, Italy for the 5Star Burn River Jump, which featured both slopestyle and the spectacular big air format. With the TTR tour now in full swing some of the best riders in the world were in attendance, including a tour de force of Scandinavian riders, all vying for valuable ranking points. As the Slopestyle contest got under way the Scandinavians began to dominate the park. Their consistency was rewarded as nine out of the ten top spots were held by Scandinavians. 18 year old Norwegian, Emil Ulsletten, threw down a great run and won the first 5star contest of his career. Next up was the spectacular big air event that gives the burn Riverjump its name. Riders had to take a line through two kickers and then a rail section in front of the crazy italian crowd.
