US Open Snowboard Championship Slopestyle Battle 2011 - Willet vs. McMorris Eric Willet and Mark McMorris battle it out in the last runs of the Slopestyle. Before that Eric Willet gives us the low-down on the next day's upcomng US Open Slopestyle Comp and gives a shout out to his home mountain of Breckenridge, CO. This summer he plans to swing through Windell's, Camp of Champions, and hopefully New Zealand. He's on an Omatic Snowboard and got his start competing in USASA. Mark McMorris has been riding for Burton since October and stunned the world last week by landing the first backside triple cork 1440 trick at a TransWorld Snowboarding shoot, called "The Park Session," at Snowmass, Colo., on March 2, 2011. Chas Guldemond was the guy to beat in Snowbasin after dishing out back-to-back 12s and just looking perfect with his riding. But Eric Willett paid no attention and came back with the highest scoring slope run in Winter Dew Tour history, and later said, "I realized I do good under pressure." Willett scored a 97.25 after a 5050 to backside lipslide on the first rail, to boardslide switch up frontside boardslide on the A-frame, then frontside boardslide 450 out on the cannon. He blasted both the jumps with a switch backside 12 double cork to frontside 10 double cork.

The 11000 screaming spectators at the Bergisel Stadium saw a veritable spectacle when the 6Star Billabong Air & Style took over the ski-jump stadium with a gigantic straight jump and 16 of the world's best snowboarders. The exciting head-to-head format saw rider by rider get knocked out until there was the final showdown between four riders in the super-final. The winner, Canadian Mark McMorris, took home a large part of the 75.000 € prize purse, as well as, the well respected "Air & Style Ring of Glory", leaving Finland's Peetu Piiroinen in second place and local superstar Werni Stock in third. The atmosphere was electric when rider after rider took their three runs flying over the huge straight jump into the landing, in order to determine who would remain to compete in the super-final. Mark McMorris made his way to victory by knocking out Finnish shredder, Markus Malin, in the first round with a stylish Cab 1260 double cork. In the second round he edged out Sage Kotsenburg, who...

Winter X Games 15. The kids are taking over... 18 year old Seb Touts and best friend 17 year old Mark McMorris from Canada move on in Slopestyle, clenching top spots in the top 3. Toutant put down the highest score in Snowboard Slopestyle history. Sebastien hit a Backside Rodeo, a Cab Double Cork 900, and a Triple Cork. The Youth have arrived to Winter X and they are kicking in the door to get recognition.

The Billabong Ante Up competition, the first 5Star event of the 2010/11 Swatch TTR World Tour season, went off today with an excellent showing from a diverse field of riders. The summertime event was held up at 7000-feet in the Camp of Champions park on the Blackcomb glacier and featured a massive 75-foot gap jump. The event featured 40 riders going for a piece of the $50000 prize purse and 850 TTR ranking points. It was an all-Canadian podium and Sebastien Toutant (CAN) took the top spot making him $20000 richer. Toutant also secured an automatic invite to the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck. All the riders were pulling off some impressive tricks all day and it came down to a double cork 1260 race for the podium with all three riders doing different variations of the trick. Toutant won the first place podium spot with a flawless Cab 1260 double cork and had this to say about his win, "Winning the first 5Star TTR big air contest was just amazing, it was an epic final and it's sick...
