The Real Liquid Gold - Exploring world water issues Kickstarter Project Link: kck.st Hello! My name is Margo Cavis. I am a painter, photographer and filmmaker. I am currently working on a new series of paintings titled "The Real Liquid Gold". These paintings will be depicting every different water related issue I can think of. Some examples include: lack of clean drinking water, water pollution, damage to marine habitats, invasive species and overfishing - to name a few. I will also be accepting topic suggestions for this project. Water covers 70.9% of the Earth's surface and is vital for all known forms of life. It takes so much water to make everything we produce and own. Nearly 90 percent of the consumption of the world's fresh water supply is used for producing food and energy. In my paintings, I want to explore all aspects of this planet's water - from over-use and pollution - to the life of the creatures that live in it. By painting about this as well as documenting all my...

Tags: Globe Trekker Baja California & Copper Canyon
Baja California or Lower California, peninsula, c.760 mi (1220 km) long and from 30 to 150 mi (48--241 km) wide, NW Mexico, separating the Gulf of California from the Pacific Ocean. The peninsula is divided at lat. 28° N into the state of Baja California in the north, and the state of Baja California Sur in the south. Except for two large coastal plains on the Pacific side, the peninsula consists largely of rugged mountain ranges averaging 5000 ft (1524 m), with one peak, San Pedro Martir, more than 10000 ft (3048 m) high. The land is generally desolate and arid. The only naturally cultivable areas are isolated mountain valleys. However, irrigation systems on the Colorado River have made possible the development of a rich farming area around Mexicali, and the region is a leading national producer of cotton and wheat. There are fisheries and fish canneries at Ensenada, which is also developing as a resort. Wealthy Mexicans, who have bought large estates and established resort ranches...

This video was produced by Mancomunidad del Municipios, Costa del Sol, Axarquía, under the title La Axarquía, Costa del Sol, and provides an overview of the city and municipality in terms of its history, monuments, and attractions. Archaeological findings at the Cueva del Tesoro testify the human presence as early as the Palaeolithic Age. There are remains of walls from around 1000 BC which perhaps included an Iberian settlement. Around 50 BC the Cartaginians established a port in a harbour nearby, followed by the Romans, who built here a fortified village called Bezmiliana, which later became Rincón de la Victoria. The presence of a Greek colony has also been indicated, but remains unconfirmed. Under the Moors it became a larger city, described by the 11th century traveller al-Idrisi. Following the conquest of the area under the Catholic Monarchs, it underwent a period of decline, which lasted until the 18th century. The little fortress, Castillo de Bezmiliana, which is seen in...

ABRAHAM HULK (1813-1897) por ARTE EN MAYÚSCULAS
Born in London, the senior member and best known of a family of painters, Abraham Hulk studied in Holland at the Amsterdam Academy under portrait painter Jean Augustin Daiwaille. He is one of the very few only foreign-born artists ever to be admitted to this prestigious academy. Early on he turned from portraits to marine painting. Hulk is often mistakenly referred to as a Dutch artist due to the strong Dutch influence and conception of his paintings. He is mainly noted for his estuary scenes featuring Dutch barges under full sail. In these paintings he was considered a master of atmosphere and composition. He traveled to America and exhibited briefly in Boston in the 1830s. He returned to Amsterdam and then London where he spent the next 27 years as a marine artist exhibiting often at the Royal Academy and Suffolk Street Gallery.

(Interview translated from French to English) RIOPELLE/CARSON - CHAMPLAIN CHAREST, PHYSICIAN-RESTAURANT OWNER, WINE AND ART COLLECTOR- 畫家加拿大CHAMPLAIN CHAREST : (Physician, restaurant owner and art collector) I'm a radiologist by profession, so my life has been surrounded by images. I love to look at images and see through images and it's through images that I am able to meet the artist. The same goes for wine. Not only is there also an image in wine, but there is also an image of the artist—the one who made the wine—and then the image of the wine and the taste of the wine are another dimension, like a taste for painting, or a taste for music. It would take a long time to say everything about my passion for wine because it began...well, even during the 70's when I met Riopelle in France and I met him because I loved what he was doing. So I already had a lot of love for painting, music and many other things. For me, Riopelle was one of the most important people that I...
