VTEC Challenge 2012 - Round 4 - Oulton Park Onboard footage taken from Car 24 - Honda Integra H22 With the split cv boot repaired and grease cleaned up from race one I was determined to in this race to get my head down and continue to learn the car after the winter changes. Got a great start and was pretty clear into the first couple of corners so just concentrated on building a gap to the field as best I could. Pressing on the car felt great and I was really enjoying the circuit but still so much to learn from it. About 5 or 6 laps in and the clutch started to feel a little "spongy" and the bit point had changed so I figured it had got hot and I ought to cool it a little. The clutch has already done a full season and several other days on track so I guess it was past it's very best. With this under control I though no dramas, take it the finish until 2-3 laps from the end when a huge puff of smoke came from the left hand side of the car and that familiar burning grease smell...

VTEC Challenge Round 3 from Oulton Park - May 19th 2012 Onboard footage taken from Car 24 - Honda Integra H22 Starting from pole I got a pretty reasonable start (something I struggled with a bit last year) and concentrated on keeping the position from a fast starting Stu Macmaster for the first few corners. I then managed to settle and pull a gap in the next few laps before settling into a steady pace. Notice at start of lap 3 the Black/Orange warning being shown at me across the line - I couldn't see a number displayed so assumed it was for me so took a good look around and a listen for any signs of smoke or unusual behaviour/noises. Having satisfyed myself all seemed ok I decided to continue for the lap at speed and check to see if warning flag/board was still there next time over the line which thankfully it wasn't. It turned out it was for car No1 further down the field so quite why they showed it at me I don't know!!. All was well until a couple of laps from the end when I had...

This was made as part of NZ's V48 Hours competition for 2012, though originally actually made in the final 23 hours (changed ideas part the way through!). I've changed the edit, and some of the sound from the submitted copy for the screening. Despite being at the venue with a virtually complete film, the final export took 3 minutes too long, so we were disqualified. There's still some iffy SFX in there, but eh.. It'll do.
