Mid States Aluminum is another preferred supplier found at www.D2P.com. Need Aluminum Extrusions, look to Mid States Aluminum Corp. Extrusion is a process used to create objects of a fixed cross-sectional profile. A material is pushed or drawn through a die of the desired cross-section. The two main advantages of this process over other manufacturing processes are its ability to create very complex cross-sections and work materials that are brittle, because the material only encounters compressive and shear stresses. It also forms finished parts with an excellent surface finish. The extrusion process has been likened to squeezing toothpaste out of a tube. When pressure is applied at the closed end, the paste is forced to flow through the open end, accepting the round shape of the opening as it emerges. If the opening is flattened, the paste will emerge as a flat ribbon. Complex shapes can be produced by complex openings. Bakers, for example, use a collection of shaped nozzles to...

Leipzig Production Facility is Called One of the Most "Lean" in the Industry Today Originally built for the final assembly of the Cayenne few years ago, Porsche has invested more than 150 million euros in the Leipzig facility for the Panamera, creating a new assembly hall, a logistics center, a pilot and analysis center, and a training facility. In conjunction with the new construction, Porsche implemented a new advanced logistics process and concept for the assembly method of the new Panamera. The new process includes a strict adherence to a just-in-time procedure in which the scheduling of suppliers is coordinated in an exacting manner. Suppliers are able to deliver parts in time and at a very high frequency -- in most cases just one hour prior to being used on the production line. This means expensive and cumbersome storage areas are virtually eliminated. Porsche's Leipzig factory currently employs some 600 workers who are expected to build approximately 20000 Panameras annually...

Alzatex Lean Manufacturing OEE lean-timer.com Lean Manufacturing OEE is an abbreviation for the manufacturing metric Overall Equipment Effectiveness. OEE takes into account the various sub components of the manufacturing process -- Availability, Performance and Quality. After the various factors are taken into account the result is expressed as a percentage. This percentage can be viewed as a snapshot of the current production efficiency for a machine, line or cell. OEE= Availability x Performance x Quality Manufacturing a product is a complex process. Without metrics and guidelines it is very easy to lose control and have your business managed by your production. OEE is a tool that combines multiple manufacturing issues and data points to provide information about the process. By analyzing and calculating data it also functions as a framework for root cause analysis. Through a documented process of combining the underlying data OEE provides specific process information.
