Item with interviews with Ron Belgrave (ex- Head of Community Safety [lead officer on crime] at the Greater London Authority) and Kit Malthouse (Deputy Mayor for Policing [lead politician on crime]) about the perceived failures of the Mayor of London in addressing youth violence in London during 2008-2012. Broadcast on BBC London news on 26 April 2012. Note the standard national public sector protocol (whether for local, regional or central government) that no officer or civil servant can take any action or intiate any project or policy unless it is approved or agreed by the politician in charge. Therefore, if the officer makes proposals and these are rejected, then (as per the protocol) the ultimate success or failure of the actions rests with the politician. Also note that no officer can speak to the media until after they leave the organisation (unless they are promoting the offical "agreed" line!).

In the A4-sized pamphlet, titled "Don't Talk, Don't Panic', the writer urges looters and rioters not to hand themselves in. "The police often use psychological pressure of knowing they have your picture to persuade you to 'come forward' when they don't know who you are or have evidence against you," it reads. "There is no chance of suggesting the person in the video is not you if the clothes they are wearing are found in your wardrobe."
