Know the Oneness of the World - Lyrics & Music by William P. Child - c- 1982 edited

It's Earth Day #42 - 04-22-2012, and just the other day I thought I'd love to upload "Know the Oneness of the World" on this special day (one of my favorite holidays)! I started practicing it quite a few times yesterday and after a morning hike to my favorite natural spot a few miles from home, I played it probably tried six times today before I got this cut and felt good about the result. Along with "Love Finds a Way" this is also right up there in my deep felt feelings for a personal musical gift that I sincerely hope may help contribute to a better existence for all. I wrote the song back in Spring of 1984 ,very soon after being inspired by a tv show (maybe shown on Earth Day back then?) about cleaning up the Hudson River, with Pete Seeger and his Clearwater Hudson River Sloop environmentally focused organization. I said to my self, that I would give it my very best effort to make a good song in support of caring for this precious/fragile/beautiful planet. The first Earth Day was...

Video clips from the first day of the May 2012 Gorge Rat Gathering. We made it a Gorge Clean Up Day. Several Gorge Rats cleaned all the campsites along the road on the west rim, several hiked into the Conley Cove area to clean up that mess and a double team cleaned up the large deposit of trash below Wiseman's View. The day for me ended in setting up camp with my fellow rats Ken, Waterbar Jim, Mtncmpr, and Crazytrain. A fine Dutch oven meal consisting of Beef Stew, yeast rolls and sweet corn on the cob! You will find no finer group of people than the Gorge Rats.

Evan - Mini Story - Part 2 of 4

It was a stormy night, it was a torrential downpour outside, lightening would flash across the sky followed by a loud crack of thunder, Dawn had never been afraid of Thunder Storms before, she actually loved to lay on the couch in front of her huge window watching the bolts of electricity light up the sky. Her Aunt always told her, when her Husband passed away, that he would be bowling up in heaven. So when a thunderstorm came she would think of lightening as him rolling the ball, and thunder as him getting a strike "way to go Uncle Seth!" she would say to herself, keeping track of his points, seeing if he could beat his last record on the next Thunder Storm. That was her way of not being scared of things, make games out of them. A knock on the door came from down the hall, she looked at her watch 9 PM "who could be out in this weather at this time of night?" she thought to herself walking to the door, un-dead-bolting it and turning the handle opening the door "Evan?" she was...

The Klinaklini ia arguably North America's most dramatic river expedition. Remote, stunning scenery, camping on glaciers, sustained whitewater and a day of heli-hiking added into the mix makes for an unforgettable adventure. Add a journey out Knight Inlet and a few days kayaking with killer whales and we rest our case.

Lily Ho Li Li Cheng Li Chin Han Yang Fan Essie Lin Chia Yan Chung Shing Chen Yan Yan Chin Feng Tien Feng Kok Lee Yan The story starts simply enough. A group of friends who have met for a Christmas party decide to go on a hunting trip in the mountains together. Two of the friends, Yang Fan and Lily Ho, are engaged to be married. However, while hiking in the mountains, Lily's character begins to develop feelings for macho Chin Han. Perhaps we can think of this as being like the biblical story of the first sin committed in the Garden of Eden. And just as that first sin had profound consequences, the growing love between Lily Ho and Chin Han leads to dramatic consequences for everyone. I found the performances by Jing Li and Yang Fan to be particularly affecting. Even when Miss Jing is just in the background with no lines in a scene, she remains in character and continues to convey a complex mix of emotions. Yang Fan is brilliant in his haunted, self-destructive role. I saw this movie...

Although Native Americans traversed Snoqualmie Pass for thousands of years they generally favored other Trans Cascade mountain passes. Although there is no written record we can surmise they found it just too steep! It wasn't until around the 1850's that explorers like Capt. George B. McClennan, Abiel Tinkham and Arthur A. Denny (founder of Seattle) became aware of the "Snoqualmie" route. McClennan was told Snoqualmie was "practicable on foot with the greatest difficulty." Never the less, in 1858 a trail was blazed across the pass and in 1867 a road was completed that was, unfortunately, destroyed regularly by weather. In 1988 the Northern Pacific Railroad completed a railroad tunnel. The first automobile made it over in 1905. Today Snoqualmie Pass is the primary East to West traffic route. As Interstate 90 it features from 4 to 6 lanes of traffic. Due to extensive construction in the early 80's the grades both East and West bound are moderate. In summer traffic travels at...
