The World Bank released its latest report on East Asia and Pacific Economic Update on May 23. The report lowers China's economic growth forecast. The development model is purely driven by state investment. Low value-added export is unsustainable. The report suggests the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) adopts domestic demand-based stimulative policies. These policies can cut taxes, increase social welfare and implement "market-oriented reforms." Scholars remark that the CCP authorities inherently ignore the people's interests. Its policy of "enriching the regime while impoverishing the populace" will remain unchanged, the experts say. The World Bank report trims China's economic growth rate to 8.2% from 8.4% which it previously predicted. China's economic slowdown will lead to the lowest growth rate of emerging East' economies, says the report. A power line just came down at about 1655 Pennsylvania Ave, Miami Beach (The parking lot of the church). I woke up with a giant explosion. The third time this year. I just held the camera there, ready to record a few minutes to see if any spark happens (rather violent machine-gun- like explosions) but it fell down in the next seconds. I called FPL in February when my whole window lit up because of a explosion, and I noticed the wind was swinging the higher power lines (the ones are not wrapped in rubber) were touching. "I told them so" a few months ago, but FPL replied: (and acted so) "If there's no fire we won't do a thing". The real problem is not the wind. The power lines are designed for not touching each-other, BUT in this case the lines go from horizontal to vertical arrangement, ie the three lines are twisted, and as in cat's craddle strings, they come together in the center. As if that wasn't enough bad design for a change of configuration, the power post is tilted, because...

JACKSON — An ex-office manager has pleaded guilty in what prosecutors say was a multimillion dollar health care fraud in which a cancer clinic gave patients diluted chemotherapy drugs and used old syringes on multiple people. Dr. Meera Sachdeva, Brittany McCoskey and Monica Weeks were indicted last August on charges including conspiracy and witness tampering related to the activities of Rose Cancer Center in Summit. Filings in US District Court in Jackson show that McCoskey pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of giving false statements related to health care matters. The charge is related to billings to Medicaid and Medicare that claim a physician was present during certain procedures. Sachdeva established the clinic in south Mississippi in 2005. Authorities say workers watered down drugs and billed Medicaid, Medicare and insurance companies for more chemotherapy drugs than patients received. The clinic billed Medicaid and Medicare for about $15.1 million during the alleged...

Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy organized a training on understanding and reporting disasters for journalists across Nepal. Carried out in the months of February-March 2012, the training was held in Biratnagar, Birgunj, Pokhara and Kathmandu. This is the first-of-its-kind of specialized training that PAS designed to enhance the understanding of media persons about disasters, and accurately reporting during disasters to help raise awareness prior to disaster and to assist relief work after a disaster. Participated by about 20 working journalists in each of the region, the training was able to create awareness that disasters, that Nepal is so prone to, can be a subject of relentless reporting. The journalists highlighted lack of technical knowledge to report on issues of disaster, and inability to explain disasters in layman terms. Memorial Video for Helen Kay Schmidt - Helen "Kay" Schmidt, 55, a resident of Corrales, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012. She is survived by husband, Evan Schmidt of Corrales; daughters, Krystal Cunningham and husband Jeff of Rio Rancho, Kenda Hooker and husband Amos of Midlothian, TX; step-daughter, Courtney Schmidt of Albuquerque; and the pride and joy of her life, her grandchildren, Jack, Tyler, Savanna, Asa, Asher, and Sweet Baby Koralyn. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Welch and Juanita Mattox; and sister, Shelia Davenport. Kay was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be in our hearts forever. She was loved by everyone who she came in contact with at Vista Grande Elementary School. Services will be held on May 25, 2012, 12:00 pm at Sue Cleveland High School Concert Hall.
