The Assassination of Patrice Lumuba
In January 1961, seven months after Congo won independence from Belgium, the country's first elected head of state, Patrice Lumumba, was killed because of fears that he would nationalize Belgian corporate interests in Congo. Patrice Lumumba, the first prime minister of the Republic of the Congo and a pioneer of African Unity, was assassinated on 17 January 1961. His crime had been to defy the Belgian Government which sought to maintain a covert imperialist hand over the country even after independence was finally won in June 1960. Ludo De Witte reveals the appalling mass of lies that have surrounded the murder. Making use of official sources and government testimony, he uncovers a network of complicity spreading from the Belgian government to the United Nations and the CIA. This book, already translated into four languages, prompted the Belgian parliament to establish an official commission of inquiry into Lumumba's assassination. In his afterword to this new edition De Witte...

Bournemouth & Poole Primary Care Trust confirmed in direct Breach of the 1998 Data Protection Act P1

Bournemouth and Poole Primary Care Trust are confirmed as being in direct breach of 1998 Data Protection Act under Principle One. 'The sharing of personal data without the owners permission or knowledge' effectively. They have confirmed in writing they they knew they were breaching the act but did it anyway as it caused them less work. The findings of my investigations are truly worrying. In Bournemouth and Poole alone 11 surgeries took part with 7000-11000 patients per surgery potentially effected. The figures and volume of breaches are staggering. Enhanced Health Care Services of Birmingham have your data. They are NOT NHS, they are a for profits company and your personal data protection has been breached. This process took place country wide and potentially effects millions of people. Under a freedom of information act request I can confirm countrywide 15.9m people were selected to be part of this program. Actual figures of data breaches are coming in but is suspected to be in...

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has failed to acknowledge civilian casualties from air strikes during its 2011 Libya campaign, and has not investigated possible unlawful attacks, Human Rights Watch said in a recently released report. The 76-page report, "Unacknowledged Deaths: Civilian Casualties in NATO's Air Campaign in Libya," examines in detail eight NATO air strikes in Libya that resulted in 72 civilian deaths, including 20 women and 24 children. It is based on one or more field investigations to each of the bombing sites during and after the conflict, including interviews with witnesses and local residents. "Attacks are allowed only on military targets, and serious questions remain in some incidents about what exactly NATO forces were striking." said Fred Abrahams, special adviser at Human Rights Watch and principal author of the report. The absence of a clear military target at seven of the eight sites Human Rights Watch visited raises concerns of possible...

Fracking a cause for concern - 3News - 3rd Nov 2011

A controversial gas extraction process has been identified as the probable cause of two small earthquakes in Britain. Fracking, as it's commonly known, is used in many parts of the world including New Zealand. Its technical name is 'hydraulic fracturing' -- the process of pumping water, sand and chemicals underground at high pressure, forcing tiny gaps in the rock to expand. This releases gas, which travels up to the surface to be captured. In the United States fracking is controversial, with claims that it leads to groundwater contamination. On one occasion a drilling mistake saw water contaminated with methane gas. When the ground began to rumble in Lancashire in the UK where fracking was being carried out, the drilling company asked for a report. The findings show the events were caused by fracking operations/ The findings have implications here in New Zealand -- Shell, Greymouth Petroleum, and Todd Energy all carry out fracking in Taranaki. However, industry bodies say there is...

When a kitchen cooks up demerit-less dishes, it scores the Food Patrol's ultimate honor for clean. Villa Del Mar in Palmview is this week's featured top performer. Reporter: When you walk in the restaurant and see that on the door (Food 4 Thought sticker)...What do you think? "That I can come here every single time... Clean forks... Clean trays... Clean cups... Everything clean," said waitress Maria Pacheco. Carlos Cobos and his family love to eat at the seafood eatery on 910 Veterans Blvd. "Makes me feel great," said the Food 4 Thought fan. "Quality of food... I enjoy coming here just about every Sunday." The staff is excited to be recognized. It's not just the jumbo shrimp they want customers to sink their teeth into. Workers want them to get a taste of their kitchen cleanliness, even before walking through the restaurant's door, by seeing their top performer sticker. "I love that you guys are going out there and staying on top of things," said Cabos. "You're making Valley...

Hey, we are missing the names: Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Obama, Napolitano, Holder, Clinton & Clinton..... this party is NOT complete yet!!! A War Crimes Tribunal in Malaysia has found former US President George W. Bush and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair guilty of war crimes for their roles in the Iraq war, Press TV reports. The five-panel Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal decided that Bush and Blair committed genocide and crimes against humanity by leading the invasion of Iraq in 2003, a Press TV correspondent reported on Tuesday. In 2003, the US and Britain invaded Iraq in blatant violation of international law and under the pretext of finding weapons of mass destruction allegedly stockpiled by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. The Malaysian tribunal judges ruled that the decision to wage war against Iraq by the two former heads of government was a flagrant abuse of law and an act of aggression that led to large-scale massacres of the Iraqi people. Bombings and other...
Police misreport crimes to public

When Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn touted the city's fourth-straight year of falling crime in February, hundreds of beatings, stabbings and child abuse cases were missing from the count, a Journal Sentinel investigation has found. More than 500 incidents since 2009 were misreported to the FBI as minor assaults and not included in the city's violent crime rate, the investigation found. That tally is based on a review of cases that resulted in charges - only about one-fifth of all reported crimes. Yet the misreported cases found in 2011 alone are enough that Flynn would have been announcing a 1.1% increase in violent crime in February, instead of a 2.3% decline from the reported 2010 numbers, which also include errors. Missing, for example, was the case of Crystal L. Mitchell, 21, who last May grabbed a 9-inch serrated steak knife during an argument with her uncle, stabbed him in his thigh and slashed his arm. And the case of John F. Sanford, 57, who in December bound his...
