CEO and Inventor Darren Walde is interviewed at NAB 2012 Las Vegas regarding Walde's innovative and cost-effective 4K motion picture film scanner, the FilmStar MoPic 44K (starting price at $130,00). Walde discusses the industry's need for a precision, high quality cost-effective scanning/archival unit for 35mm or 16mm digitizing at incredibly fast rates of up to 14 fps for 2K scans (6 fps for 4K scans). Walde further discusses the growing market for motion picture film scanners driven by new films requiring digital effects, aging films not yet converted/restored, government/university archives, or any films that need to be rescanned at higher resolutions. Darren Walde concludes passionately in this video, "I live and breathe film, but remember film is also living and breathing and it changes over time. We've got to preserve it!".
