Anonymity is a significant ethical principle with historical and legal precedents for researchers. However, limits and degrees of anonymity are emerging in an age of rapid technological change, where new technology enables new types of social research by transforming research participants' and researchers' ways of doing. This presentation explores the problem of presenting rich, descriptive data on a unique, emergent social phenomenon while adhering to an ethical principle of anonymity. This presentation explores an appropriate degree of and limit to anonymity when reconciling the impact of research findings with political considerations for research participants, their organizations, the researcher and other research stakeholders. The data are drawn from five qualitative case studies of pedagogical technologists, who support the pedagogical aspect of teaching through information technology in schools, and who have been found only in a few, unique schools. The music and the imagery were created in the Eastman Lane Studios of Electronic Arts Productions in Petaluma, CA with a specially designed dynamical orchestral configuration of my MIDI synthesizers and computers. The music system complex is designed to accommodate the performer functioning as a conductor working through the top of pyramid to influence variables buried deep in the structure. The imagery is designed in modules in a separate studio with multiple Macs working together in a sort of animation factory that generates dynamical system image sequences from which I choose those that capture my fancy. This is an example of a complex system compositional process based on corralling, from the perspective of the composer/performer, the most desirable art material possible at the moment of creation. How does the emergent new media ecology blurs lines between old/new/mobile/Internet media? From Al-Jazeera to video-phone enabled cell-phones, from satellite modems to mesh networks, activists and journalists in the region have displayed some of the most innovative uses of new media tools. Hydrophobia is a survival-adventure video game developed and published by Dark Energy Digital for Microsoft Windows, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox Live Arcade. I'm working on a few artificial life ideas I've got mainly to do with emergent properties, to do this I wanted to create a semi-realistic environment that would require the AI to be able to adapt and evolve to an ever changing environment. This simulation has weather, water and shrubbery, the shrubbery will be a food source for the ALife later on, but the next thing I will make will be predators/prey (ie. wolves/sheep).

The music was composed in after midnight sessions on my new iPad in May of 2012. The laser imagery is produced by a music synthesizer-driven laser animation system captured with a video camera and routed into a video synthesizer. The laser drivers, the stereo outputs of the synthesizer, carry audio signals which are, in the final analysis, streaming numbers with ever changing ratios that are tuned in real time to ease in and out of whole number ratios (Pythagorean tuning based on perfect 5ths and octaves). The art game is one of achieving a musical state of dynamic balance by easing in and out of perfect whole number ratios.
