According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the US will be short USD 1.1 trillion in its 2012 budget, ending September 30. The CBO has revised its 973-billion dollar estimate for fiscal 2012. The budget analysis predicts the country's spending to remain unchanged, while expecting revenues to grow by 9.6 percent. Over the past two fiscal years, the US posted a 1.3 trillion dollar deficit after posting a record 1.4 trillion dollar deficit in fiscal 2009. Under the current policies, the CBO predicts the national debt to jump to USD 15.3 trillion over the next ten years. The country's official unemployment rate is also expected to rise in 2013. Meanwhile, the nation's gross domestic forecast (GDP) has also been revised down to two percent. Since the 2008 economic crisis, the US budget deficit has topped the one-trillion-dollar mark. A new television ad about the US national debt produced by Citizens Against Government Waste has been deemed "too controversial" by major networks including ABC, A&E and The History Channel and will not be shown on those channels. The commercial is a homage to a 1986 ad that was entitled "The Deficit Trials" that was also banned by the major networks. Apparently telling the truth about the national debt is a little too "hot" for the major networks to handle. But perhaps it is time to tell the American people the truth. In 1986, the US national debt was around 2 trillion dollars. Today, it is rapidly approaching 14 trillion dollars. The American Dream is being ripped apart right in front of our eyes, but apparently some of the major networks don't want the American people to really understand what is going on. The Nye County commissioners passed a final 2012-13 fiscal year $60.28 million dollar budget, It takes care of the $1.6 million dollar deficit. The budget incorporates continuing a spending freeze, a continued freeze on STEP pay increases, a reduction in employee work hours by 5 percent and a 50 percent reduction in overtime. Property taxes are expected to decline, but not as much as this year. General fund revenues are estimated at $32.5 million dollars for the coming year, down from $33.58 million this year and $37 million last year.
