I was laying in bed the other night and this song popped into my head. So I was like "you know, I should cover that." So I did. This is probably my favorite song from any N64 game. My goal was to reproduce as close to the original as I could, with some embellishments here and there. I was going to do the guitar live, but I ended up doing synth guitar instead. I also decided to go with acoustic drums. No midi-ripping here, folks. This is 100% transcribed by ear. Some parts were quite difficult to reproduce exactly, so with those I improvised. Also, I was ecstatic to find the bell patch in Nexus 2. David Wise himself must have been involved with creating that patch, because it's friggin' spot on. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy! For a really weird reason, Donkey Kong Country 2 is my favorite DKC game on the SNES. It has to do with, of all things, a hook. Anyways. All the games have impressive graphics, amazing soundtracks and very cool level designs. Each level, especially in DKC3, has some sort of gimmicks to keep the gameplay fresh like levels where you ride mine carts, or avoid lightning strikes, or fight a giant bee as a parrot. All of the games have some sort of overall motif as well. In DKC2, the motif is pirates where you encounter Kremlings with peg-legs, ones wielding cutlasses, and even be haunted by a giant ghost pirate. This is the game that Dixie Kong, whose hair twirl hover move can break the game, is introduced. It was very fun playing as her. The jungle in the Lost World is one of my favorite areas of the game because of the dense foliage and prehistoric looking plants. Also, it has cool tribal music with chants and animal sounds. Here, David Barrett and I are in the Stainless Steel Burro transistioning offroad and onto a series of granite steps in Moab, Utah. Shot again with a Sony Bloggie and a GoPro. I'm using Pinnicle Studio 15 to edit with greatly improved results. Still a long way to go, though, skill wise. Next trip will be captured with the Sony and three GoPros mounted in different directions/viewpoints/angles. Hopefully, I can edit it to give it more motion/action and make it a little less boring.
