Femen, Ukraine's breast-baring women's rights warriors are in full training for next month's Euro 2012 football championships; an event the group has spent at least two years preparing for. Activists from the group are meeting regularly at their specially prepared Kyiv base camp where preparations for the championship are already well under way. Up to 40 or so members of the Femen team are on stand-by for action in Kyiv with two or three in each of the other European cities - Lviv, Kharkiv and Donetsk. In its view the Euros will only hurt Ukraine's future by boosting prostitution and making it a sex tourism destination in Europe, but some critics question the sincerity of their beliefs and dismiss the young women, all in their 20s, as attention seekers.

The contentions are that we consume too many resources, travel inefficiently, lead more socially isolated lives, and are becoming less active. Part of the blame for these behaviours is often laid on our environment, with critics arguing that poorly designed places encourage people to develop 'bad behaviours'. Professor Katie Williams presents evidence from her research about the relationship between urban design and sustainable behaviours and lifestyles, outlining both the potential for, and limitations of, the built environment to make a difference.
