American Idol Finale Aerosmith 'Legendary Child'
The White Guy is.gd With Guitar strikes again! Looks like that stereotypical streak on "American Idol" isn't being broken any time soon. Whatever else you might say about P-squared (and I fully expect you to in the comments section), the ladies seem to love him. He's got a radio-ready sound -- especially with his Mumford & Sons-esque winner's song, "Home" -- and he probably has the greatest chance of making an impact on the charts, as so many previous "American Idol" winners have failed to do. Did he have the best vocals, an impressive range or the ability to work the stage? No. But that doesn't preclude him from being a successful artist, I suppose. He can at least play his own instruments and write his own songs, and he's had a firm grasp on his identity all season long, which certainly differentiated him from raw and malleable runner-up Jessica Sanchez. On tonight's season finale of 'American Idol,' judge Steven Tyler performed with his band Aerosmith. The longtime and much loved rockers debuted their brand-new single, 'Legendary Child.' The song is a rager, and Tyler, best known on the show for his clever, from left field one-liners, was in full on rock star mode once he got in front of that crowd. Dressed in a long coat with bell bottoms, wearing sunglasses and with his signature scarves wrapped around his microphone stand, Tyler and his mates turned the knobs up to 11 (on Season 11, no less), demonstrating that rock 'n' roll ain't noise pollution, nor is it going to die. Herbert "Herb" Arthur Wiedoeft (Nov.22,1886 - May 12,1928) was a band leader in California in the 1920s. Wiedoeft was born in Germany and came to the USA with his parents as a child. He came from a family of gifted musicians and was encouraged by his father. His brothers Gerhardt and Adolph (nicknamed "Gay" and "Ad") played as sidemen in his band, Gerhardt on string bass and Adolph on percussion and xylophone. Another brother, Rudy Wiedoeft was a famous saxophone player during the late ragtime and early jazz era. Their sister, Erica, was a pianist. Wiedoeft started his first orchestra before 1915. Herb's band played for most of its time at the Cinderella Roof Ballroom in the Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel. The band's theme song "Cinderella Blues" came from this venue. The band recorded four songs for the Nordskog label in 1922. The band gained a recording contract with Brunswick Records, toured in Chicago and New York and earned a national reputation.
