At least 20 people have been killed across Afghanistan during widespread demonstrations against the desecration of the Holy Qur'an at a US military base, Press TV reports. On Thursday, seven Afghan protesters were killed on the third day of anti-American demonstrations in the Asian country over the burning of copies of Holy Qur'an and other Islamic reading materials at the US-run Bagram airbase, some 11 kilometers (7 miles) southeast of the city of Charikar in Afghanistan's Parwan province. Thousands of demonstrators surrounded the headquarters of a military-civilian Provincial Reconstruction Teams (PRT) in Mihtarlam, the capital of Laghman province, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) east of the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Thursday. South Korea's Provincial Reconstruction Team celebrated the completion of a police and vocational training center as well as a much needed hospital at Forward Operating Base Charikar in Parwan Province, Afghanistan. At the new police center, Afghan National Police (ANP) will take a variety of classes including Taekwondo and police ethics. At the vocational center, Afghan students can take beautician, computer and tailoring courses. Lastly, the hospital is expected to serve as many as 100 Afghans from the local community daily.

Full report with Hi-Res photos: vitalykuzmin.net 45th engineer-camouflage regiment leads its history from 45th engineer-sapper regiment, which was founded in February 10th, 1980 in Termez, the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic. Later this year, the regiment was moved to Afghanistan and located in Charikar. The regiment was involved in almost all the operations of Soviet forces in Afghanistan. After the withdrawal from Afghanistan by February 10th, 1989 the regiment was relocated to the Moscow Military District near Nicholas-Uryupino village, and in 2006 the regiment was reformed to 45th separate engineer-camouflage regiment.
