Today creditors shouldering hundreds of millions in debt for a company who owns two mills on Vancouver Island voted down a plan to see the company pull itself from financial turmoil. By a slim margin the creditors decided that the proposal was unfit, and now the company will be forced to open a sale proposal. Two hundred and eighty people are employed by the Catalyst mill in Port Alberni. "It is a real threat to our economy," says Chamber of commerce manager Mike Carter, " that is why we are very concerned." According to the chamber of commerce the large pulp and paper mill is an economic driver in the Alberni Valley and the prospect that a new operator could take control is a point of contention. This is a piece that I wrote for my high school choir director Mrs. Lee Brasche, who has left such an impact on my life. Go, Lovely Rose is my setting of the commonly set poem by Edmund Waller (b. 1606). It is for TTBB chorus and piano, and is dedicated with the utmost love and respect to Lee Brasche. Premiered May 18, 2012 at Chapin United Methodist Church by the Chamber Choir men of the 2012 and 2013 Chamber Choirs. Written specifically for flutist Peter Phippen, this work allows him to fully explore his improvisational skills. The work is composed by Ivar Lunde, Jr. who also conducts the performance by the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra. Due to length restraints the work has been divided into two parts. All nature video was shot by Ivar Lunde, Jr. in northern Wisconsin. The production is a collaboration between the local Community Television and Skyline Studios.

One Night, New Breath A structured improvisation composed by Jeremy Mayall Richard Nunns (taonga puoro) / Jeremy Mayall (turntables + electronics) / Adam Maha (viola) / Jeremy Hantler (percussion) Performed live at the Waikato University Kingitanga Day Concert 2012. In the Concert Chamber at the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts. When composing, sometimes it is the sound that is being used that is as interesting as an melodic or harmonic movement. There is so much that can be said through the manipulation of sound. This piece gives performers musical information in the form of ideas or 'breath". Each breath can be changed, expanded and re-arranged by the performers to allow each musician to truly bring the music to life. 'One Night, New Breath' is a structured improvisation in 5 parts. This piece draws influence from the genre worlds of soundscape, jazz, 20th century chamber music and hip hop. Written as part of a PhD composition portfolio. Video Filmed and Edited by Dan Inglis.
