RIVERHEAD — With Memorial Day weekend approaching, Suffolk officials gathered Wednesday to launch a DWI task force that will patrol the East end in an effort to enforce DWI laws. As part of the task force, Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent DeMarco unveiled a DWI processing center that he said officers will use to process arrests in order to quickly get back on patrol. As part of the STOP-DWI initiative consisting of New York State troopers and the Suffolk County Police Department, District Attorney Thomas Spota said the mobile team will focus solely on drunk and drugged drivers in order to ensure safety for residents and visitors in Eastern Suffolk during the holiday weekend.
