(part 2 of 2 - view part 1 of this amp demo here: youtu.be Just picked up this mid-60s Ampeg Jet J-12D on ebay for $325 (sweet!). It has (2) 6BK11 preamp tubes and (2) 7591 power tubes. Controls: 1 vol, 1 tone, 1 tremolo (clicks on, speeds up - no depth control). 2nd guitar demo, using a recent-model Aria FA-80 archtop (Gretsch copy). This is a suh-weet guitar, recently given to me by the family of a wonderful guy from our church who passed away recently. What a gift! Beautiful, and sounds amazing.

I wanted to get back to playing some of my old material on a smaller acoustic which did not feel like wrestling with an elephant. This guitar is at least the equal of the expensive ones I have owned, with no dull spots on the fretboard; the tone is rich and sustained throughout. It strums as well as it picks. The finish is immaculate. Two minor quibbles: the headstock is a bit small and the tuner layout cramped, and I would probably have increased the string spacing by 1/32. I put on a set of 11-50s (slightly lighter than the 11-52s it came with) and had to tweak the truss rod a bit. I may have the bridge saddle filed down 1/64 depending on what happens with the changes of weather and humidity. You could spend 2000 and not get a better OOO than this." When I saw that my local music store had the new Godin archtop in stock, I immediately started doing a mental inventory of my collection, figuring out what I could sell to buy this instrument. But playing it changed my mind. It's not at all of what I think of as an archtop guitar- though it may be just what you're looking for.A little background. Flat top guitars have a resonating surface made form a thin layer of cedar or spruce or some other light wood. They're designed to vibrate as easily as possible. Traditional archtops, on the other hand, have a top carved from a much denser wood- traditionally maple. Whereas the classic flat top guitar sound is big and boomy, and designed to produce a big sound that ranges from bass to high treble, the traditional archtop sound is more percussive,...

For more information about the Clean Machine, check it out on our site at : www.fuchsaudiotechnology.com While Fuchs® is well known for building some of the finest channel switching amps in the world, we realized not everyone is a channel switching player. Many players told us they prefer to define their tones through pedals. Based on feedback from many players, we took the clean channel from our Tripledrive Supreme®, and enhanced it with greater tonal flexibility. We followed it with an all tube effects loop, a stellar four knob reverb section, and an entirely revamped power section. The result is The Clean Machine®. An amp as home with a pedalboard as it is with a big fat archtop jazz guitar.

www.themusiczoo.com We dig our archtop guitars here at the Zoo, and we were thrilled to see the LH-350 arrive recently since it bears all the trappings of a classic. The hand-carved spruce top boasts a tone that is rich enough for soloing or accompaniment playing, and the Florentine cutaway not only looks great, it allows easy access to the higher frets. The sweet, natural tone of this great guitar is enhanced by a Kent Armstrong pickup controlled by a single volume knob for a simple, rustic approach. On top of the vintage-style electronics, we like how the bound rosewood fretboard looks matched with the sunburst finish and the "Fleur de Lys" headstock design. Complete with an adjustable ebony bridge, this guitar recalls the classic jazzboxes and archtops from days gone by.

More review is.gd Customer Reviews: "I bought my Epiphone Casino about five years ago. I was orignally attracted to the cosmetics, and it was a cheaper, thinner, hollowbody.THere's a surprising range of tone you can get out of those two P-90s. The feel was great too. Had a real low action. Honestly, I never had a problem with the guitar, though if the inpur jack were to fall in the body... or a pot... well, you can imagine the nightmare that would be. Never happened in the five years I owned my Casino. The only downside to this guitar is that the combination of P-90s and hollowbody doesn't stand up too well to high-gain music. If that's your style, beware; this guitar will feedback." "I've owned my casino for around 8 years now. She puts out those rich warm tones that only guitars in the gibson family can give. The only trouble I've had so far is the electronic. The pots and toggle switch have needed to be replaced, but from what I've been told that is fairly common for semi-hollow...
