I've relocated to Columbia Missouri after losing a business and the death of my father. The state of Kansas in May 2012 proposed a bill to the Governor, which will make adherence to any "international or foreign" law illegal in the state of Kansas. Even though the bill does not explicitly use the term Islam or Shariah, several members of the Senate mentioned it was publicized and lobbied as an "anti-shariah" measure. This bill targets Islam and Muslims under the cover of foreign law and directly impacts Islamic way of life (Shariah) related to system of burial, marriage contracts, etc. This thinly-veiled attack on the state's Muslim population only serves to marginalize Muslims and deny them equal rights and equal access to the courts enjoyed by other religious groups.
