Windy portion of trying to capture May 20 2012 Eclipse but I notice a star or something next to the eclipse which seem to last about 6-8 minutes. I was having a hard time capuring video with the crappy filter I had. I thought I had some unexposed 35mm to make my own filter but I didn't. anyways this is seconds here and there and the dot object moved but I also arced the camera. Most of the time was used capturing still photos and only a few seconds of video. In several of the still shots I have the same object and it's clearly not a spec on the lens because I used a 10 shot sequence and had it been dust or a spec on the lens it would have moved from the sun and moon but it's perfectly aligned next to it. Almost like the Islamic Religious sign. I wonder who else caught it and if it was maybe Venus or Saturn or some other planet or star that just happened to be positioned. I will try and make a video of the still bursts and upload it as well. This was shot north of San Francisco but...

Shot with two D7000's. From the May 18 show at Amos Southend music club (Charlotte, NC). My friend used a 35mm f/1.4. I used an 85mm f/1.4. We didn't have any equipment for capturing clean audio, so I spliced our clips together as best as I could to synchronize with the album version of "February 1878."

While not a full or even annular eclipse here in Santa Clarita, California, there were still some interesting views to be seen. Four different cameras were used, each running in timelapse mode... In the first several sequences we see intense orange images filmed with a Canon SX10-is, using its full optical zoom of 20x, which equates to about 560mm (35mm equiv.), and a disc cut from an old arc welding mask as a filter. Three large sunspots can be clearly seen in the sun's orb, as the moon takes a slow, ever increasing bite out of the solar disc. As the eclipse ends just before sunset, the sun darkens and then finally sets behind a very distant mountain range. Digital panning across the large image frame and wind buffeting the camera makes for some interesting "action" in these sequences... Next, (at 1:15 ) we see the sun's glare in a blue sky as the Canon 5D mk2 records the change in daylight level using fixed ISO, shutter and aperture. This sequence was filmed using a 17mm wide...
